Debenhams AW16 Home & Fashion Press Show

Prepare yourselves for a very image heavy post. I know I've said this numerous times before but this time, I really mean it. I was lucky enough to be invited to the Debenhams AW16 Home & Fashion Press Day in London this Thursday and though I had the last hand in of my university life the day after, I couldn't miss out on such an exciting opportunity. A huge thank you to Vanessa and everyone at Debenhams for putting on such an incredible event, the collections, venue and entire set up was just beautiful. Honestly, I've left with a shopping list as long as my arm and interior design goals for a house I won't have for at least another 5 years.

The show itself consisted of a little bit of everything from homeware to fashion and even a little bit of beauty. With huge designers like Matthew Williamson, Henry Holland, Julien Macdonald and Savannah Miller all showcasing their newest collections. The homeware and beauty areas were definitely more my cup of tea but it was still amazing to take a little sneak peak at the latest designs from such incredible designers.

Matthew Williamson impressed as always, not only with the fashion but also his new homeware collection. With gorgeous intricate beading, embroidery and feathers, the clothes were typical of his signature style. Another collection that really stood out to me was H! by Henry Holland, a super fun and playful line, bold prints and animal furs create a different spin on the "geek chic" look. Girly but street. The patterned bomber was a definite stand out piece for me, covered in a gorgeous bright print. Definitely an easy to add a pop of colour to an everyday look.

I went straight from the fashion over to the small beauty section, showcasing Urban Decay, Jurlique and OPI. I was really intrigued to take a look at the brand new Urban Decay, Alice Through The Looking Glass palette. For me the real selling point with this palette is the packaging. I've never seen anything come quite as close with just how spectacular this product looks. Bright colours, psychedelic patterns and pretty gold typography make this a product definitely worth keeping on display. In the top, two small doors open to reveal a delicate butterfly with the shadows themselves pulling out from the bottom. And the colours of the shadows follow suit with the entire design, each row specifically designed to suit each of the characters in the film. Use them as a group or mix and match with the 20 brand new shades to create dozens of different looks. I've always been terrified of using colour, mainly sticking to neutrals but just introducing a pop of one of the brighter colours on your lower lash line can instantly transform your look.

After meeting a couple of the girls from Jurlique at the last Debenhams event, I was thrilled to see them again at this show and very happy to be treated to another incredible hand massage using their citrus scented hand cream. I've recently been loving their Rosewater Balancing Mist, particularly on the face, it's a beautifully rose scented and light mist that hydrates and restores the skin. The deluxe edition, made from five different roses is also incredible. Jurlique is a brand I'd really like to try some more products from, I've never been massively into skin and body care and probably neglected it a little bit recently, so any new products are definitely sure to peak my interest. Especially as they're so easily accessible from Debenhams now.

I probably spent the most time scouring the homeware area of the show. There were some incredible set ups and gorgeous new ranges from all sorts of designers, with something to suit every style. I've never been more desperate to move out of my parents house and get my own place so that I can decorate and fill every room with different accessories following different themes and change it up every few years. (Might need to win the lottery first I think,) The stand outs for me had to be Star Julien Macdonald and Butterfly Home by Matthew Williamson. The J by Jasper Conran collection is a bloggers dream, lots of marble, wood and copper finished for a simple yet super elegant kitchen. I can just imagine it against a backdrop of white subway tiles with super rustic worktops and a pop of colour here and there.

First I came across the Cosmopolitan room, full of pretty pastel colours and softer accessories for the home. This room definitely gave me a very airy, almost pretty country cottage vibe. Loads of hearts, stripes, gold accents and slogans. Another pretty collection was At Home with Ashley Thomas. If you're in to designs like the likes of Cath Kidston, this will be very up your street. The colours are perfect for Autumn, lots of reds, deep blues and intricate floral patterns with cute woodland creatures. I can definitely imagine walking into a small country kitchen covered in similar patterns and accessories.

Ben de Lisi is another super fun collection, full of bright colours, slogans, print and typography. Another great way of adding a pop of colour to a plain room or a way to go all out with geometric prints and loads of colour. The love me, love my dog pillow speaks to me on a spiritual level.

Star by Julien Macdonald made for an incredible center piece, everything about this collection just screams decadent. I can just imagine myself sat there in a Matthew Williamson dress covered in intricate beading, hair curled, wine glass in hand. This whole selection is super glamorous, a sure fire way to make your home feel like that of a celebrity, full of golds, glass, mirrors and rich colours. The stand out pieces for me have to be the gold barware, especially the wine glasses. I just want them hanging from my kitchen ceiling like this! I also need one of those bar carts in my life.

The Butterfly Home by Matthew Williamson is another super glamorous and decadent collection, celebrating the arts and crafts movement. I'm in love with all the blue and aqua colours, prints and tassels, it gives me slight Moroccan and Marrakesh vibes, really exotic and pretty. You can really easily take one or two of these pieces to add a pop of colour to any room and I love how reasonably priced all these products are. You're getting something of incredible quality and finish, at a great price. I'm really tempted to revamp my bedroom at home with all these peacock finishes and colours as I think they'll go beautifully with my white walls and furniture.

I had an absolutely incredible day at this event, thanks again to Debenhams for having me along and for Vanessa and all the girls for making me feel so welcome and comfortable. I can't wait to take a visit to Debenhams when I get paid to pick up a few of the new pieces, especially the dreamy homeware!
